A few weeks before the start of the 32nd edition of the African Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), proceeded Friday, in the draw of the groups of the competition. An unprecedented ACN 2019 , since it will compete, 24 teams, against 16 in the past. The result of the draw is all the more enticing, with announced shocks and a "group of death".

The host country of the competition, Egypt will face Zimbabwe in the opening match in Cairo on June 21st. Group A completed by the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A group within reach of the pharaohs, 7 times winner of the competition, and Leopards of DRC. At least on paper.

Group B sees one of the favorites of the competition, inheriting the modest but very playful team of Guinea. The selections of Madagascar and Burundi, completes this fairly homogeneous group, for their first participation in a final phase of the African Cup of Nations among seniors.

Senegal and Algeria will face off for one of the hilarious matches of this group stage, in Pool C. Kenya and Tanzania will try not to let the two group's favorius truster the top spots.

With the Ivory Coast, Morocco, South Africa and Namibia, group D acts as a "death group". While Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, and Angola, will compete in a group E, relatively balanced on paper.

In the title, Cameroon will be struggling with Ghana, one of the serious outsiders of the competition. A group completed by Benin and Bissau Guinea . Asked by RFI after the draw, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, was confident.

"We can say that we had a happy hand. Because the hen in which we find ourselves is a pretty good hen. [...] It is true that there are two great nations in this group: Ghana and Cameroon. But we must not neglect the other opponents, Benin and Guinea-Bissau, who have achieved very good qualifications. So, I prefer to remain cautious, "said Seidou Mbombo Njoya.

As a reminder, with the format to 24 teams qualified in the final phase, the rules of the group phase change somewhat. Indeed, if the first two of each group qualify, the best four thirds of these six groups will also go to the next round.
