The 26 districts targeted by PRODEL funding are located in the Far North, in the North and in Adamawa. Boko Haram's incursions into the Far North often result in livestock theft. The assaults of this terrorist group have had unfortunate consequences in the livestock sector. The production of meat has dropped. And the prices on the market took the elevator.
Financed by the World Bank to the tune of 60 billion FCFA, PRODEL has pledged to release 10 billion CFA francs for farmers. The Livestock Development Project aims to improve the productivity of selected livestock production systems, market the beneficiaries' products and formulate an immediate response in the event of a crisis or emergency.
According to the Minister of Animal Husbandry and Animal Industry (MINEPIA), Dr. Taiga, PRODEL promotes an environment conducive to the inclusive development of values. It is an open window on the production, processing and marketing of targeted products. The project aims to increase the number of eligible farmers and boost investment in the livestock sector.
